Karoliina
I am a Finnish foreign and security policy expert based in Vienna. Previously, I have worked in Russia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, which has allowed me to build a specialization background in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I have gained experience from research, communications, journalism as well as project management tasks.
At the moment, I divide my time between working as a Special Adviser in the Permanent Delegation of Finland to the OSCE and an independent researcher focused on Russia and Central Asia. Through my research, I aim to expand understanding of Russian and Central Asian matters in Europe. I have a specific interest in security themes and have previously written about the Russian defence industry and military cooperation in the post-Soviet space.
I think that reading and traveling are the best ways to build knowledge and that is why I spend my free time mostly on the road and listening to audiobooks. Over the previous years, I have also written about my travels with the main focus being on Central Asia.
